Using spaced repetition resources such as ANKI cards I am hoping to improve student performance in pharmacology courses at The University of Sydney. My hypothesis is that students will remember the higher level concepts in pharmacology more easily if we support them to memorise salient facts, words and meanings onto which they can build their understanding.
A systematic review of the literature revealed that spaced education interventions in a variety of implementations increased final scores for students in medical courses. On the strength of that evidence and with financial support from the Education Portfolio at The University of Sydney I have begun to implement a spaced education strategy with students studying pharmacology in courses accross the university. Students from Nursing, Pharmacy, Exercise Pharmacology, and Pharmacology in Science have participated in this intervention.
